M-85-219 and M-87-178
Dear Mr. Frezieres:
Correspondence received by the Mined Land Reclamation Division from the Mesa
SCD on May 22, 1992, details a Mesa SCD concern that the aforementioned
Parkerson gravel operations may exacerbate the Colorado River salinity
problem. The Division has completed an analysis of this concern; a summation
of our analysis is attached to this letter. Based on the extremely
conservative nature of the worst-case scenario assumption, and the minor
impact to the river resulting even in the worst case, the Division has
concluded that the impact of the gravel pits on Colorado River salinity will
be minimal.
If you feel that your concerns have not been adequately addressed, or if you
have additional concerns, I would urge a representative of Mesa SCD to contact
me, or to Attend the Informal Conference that has been scheduled to examine
outstanding issues regarding these pits. The Informal Conference will be held
at the City-County Auditorium, 520 Rood Avenue, Grand Junction, CO from 1:00
to 5:00 p.m. on July 27, 1992.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
i"'
Allen C.
