The minor revision is
necessary and prudent to prevent, to the extent possible, additional contributions of suspended solids to
the flow in Sylvester Gulch, from a secondary natural channel that has meandered into the alluvial
deposits at the East Stem of Sylvester Gulch, and retunt the flow to the original natural channel of
Sylvester Gulch. The locatiolt ol'the chalmei alignment is shown on the enclosed map.
Cham7el maintenance and erosion control consists of clearing the original chaltnel of brush and debris
that caused the flow to meander to the secondary chaltnel, and to install large size pit-run gravel (+4 -
ilteh) for the floor of the channel. The project will require a track mounted excavator to clear the debris
and prepare the channel (a width of approximately 12 feet) for pit-run gravel placement. We believe
that tltc majority of the work can be completed by the track mounted excavator operating from the East
Pork Road. As shown on map, tl~e azea is not cltazacterized by a wetland and minimal disturbance is
anticipated by the maintenance activity. It is anticipated that the project will take 5 days to complete.
Mobilization of equipment would begirt September I5, 2000, and MCC would begin the work ott
September 18, 2000, and could complete it September 22, 2000. The area will then be fertilized,
seeded, and mulched, on completion of the maintenance and erosion control project.
Ttte Division's prompt action on approving this project is appreciated as MCC is prepared to
con7mence work on September 15, 2000.
