We received a
letter from you dated June 21, 2001 addressing the adequacy of that request. This is in
response to your letter to us.
I would like to request a 60-day extension to finish the maps requested in item #1.
We had our engineer draw up appropriate maps in order to meet today's deadline,
however, upon examination, find errors in the size of the BLM South Lot. We need this
extra time to get the correct coordinates from the Bureau of Land Management and then
have our engineer corcect the map. I will start working on it immediately and hope to
have it done before the 60 day limit, but I am concerned about the time it will take these
two agencies to pertorm the tasks needed. After my phone conversation with you today,
I realize the absolute importance of having the information included in the maps,
particularly the area boundaries, be accurate- I do not want to submit an incorrect map
and I believe we need it drawn up by a professional in order to obtain an adequate map.
I am enclosing a copy of the letter sent to Susie Erickson at the Division's Denver office
today. As you can see, the bond forms and certified checks to cover each were
forwarded to her today via Fed F~c letter envelope.
As mentioned in your comment #3, we will have the west working face highwall reduced
to the approved 2H:1V grade by August 29, 2001. We will notify the Division of
continued reclamation tasks as completed.
Regarding item #4, C & J Gravel Products, commits to notify DMG prior to affecting
Phase 2 of the BLM South Lot so the reclamation cost estimate can be recalculated to
account for any additional cost that may be associated with mining of that phase.
As stated in our letter to Susie Erickson and in the bond form, C & J Gravel provides that
in the event the Bureau of Land Management reduces the Financial Warranty on their
27661 HWY 160 Durango, CO 81301
Tel: (970) 385-4112 Fax: (970) 385-5014 Email: cjrocke~frontier.nel
