2.03.12 Page 6 <br />NATIONAL KING COAL, INC., 4424 County Road 120, Hesperus, <br />Colorado 81326, phone (303) 259-2416, has filed an application for <br />a revision to Mining and Reclamation Permit #C81-035 with the <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board under the Colorado Surface <br />Coal Mining Reclamation Act' of 1979. The mine is located in <br />portions of Sections 31 and 32; Township 35 North, Range li West, <br />N.M.P.M., La Plata County, Colorado. The surface of the area to <br />be mined is owned by Lawrence Huntington. All mining activities <br />of the King Coal Mine lies to the south side of Hay Gulch, <br />approximately 4.5 miles southwest of Hesperus, as identified on <br />U.S.G.S. 7.5 Minute Quadrangle of Hesperus. Federal coal has been <br />extracted from the King Coal Mine since 1941. Extended mining is <br />proposed on Federal Lease COC 49465, issued September 1, 1990, an <br />more particularly described as follows: <br />T. 35 N., R. 11 W., N.M.P.M. <br />Sec. 31, Lot 4, SW/4NE/4, SE/4SW/4, W/2SE/4 <br />Underground mining methods are in use. The proposed land use <br />at the completion of mining is for rangelands. A copy of the <br />application is available for public inspection in the office of the <br />La Plata County Clerk and Recorder, Courthouse, Durango, Colorado. <br />Written comments, objections or requests for informal <br />conferences on the application may be submitted to the Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Board, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman <br />Street, Denver, Colorado 80203. <br /> <br />
