We continue to support our initial comments from the site assessment
on July 24, 1995. The applicant has considered these recommendations and incorporated them into the
project's guidelines. Wildlife will continue to use the area during the project and at the end of the project.
We also appreciate the applicant's effort to operate outside the critical wintering periods (November 15
to April 15) of mule deer and elk. Both big game species utilize this area as winter range. However, if
the operator plans to work on the site during the winter, he should conduct any necessary activities on a
time schedule between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This application was reviewed by Melody Miller. Any additional correspondence or questions should be
directed to her at the Colorado Division of Wildlife, 151 East 16th Street, Durango, CO, 81301 or (970)
247-0855. The Colorado Division of Wildlife appreciates the opportunity to comment on this project and
welcomes the opportunity to comment on any project concerning wildlife and its habitat.
~~:,
?~~Bob ark
Senior Wildlife Biologist
ce: Clark
Zgainer
Oltennan
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, James S.
