4 MATERIALS <br />The materials for the piping shall conform to the following Standards or Manufactur- <br />er's Specification: <br />4.1 POLYETHYLENE PIPE <br />4.1.1 Polyethylene pipe and fittings shall be made from high density, high <br />molecular weight resin that is classified as a Type III, Grade P34, <br />Class C, Category 5, by ASTM D1248. The cell classification <br />according to ASTM D3350 shall tie 345464C, and the pipe shall <br />have a rating of PE3408 or better, according to the rating system <br />of the Plastics Pipe Institute, a division of the Society of the <br />Plastics Industry, Inc. The material shall have a minimum <br />Hydrostatic Design Basis of 1600 psi at 73 degrees Fahrenheit <br />when tested in accordance with PPI TR-3 and shall be listed in the <br />name of the pipe and fitting manufacturer in PPI TR-4. <br />4.1.2 The Manufacturer shall certify that the materials used to <br />manufacture pipe and fittings meet the requirements of this <br />specification. The Manufacturer shall maintain permanent Quality <br />Control and Quality Assurance records. Certification or copy of <br />these records shall be made available to the purchaser on request. <br />4,1.3 All fittings and pipe shall be suitable for butt fusion welding or <br />other thermal fusion procedures approved and sanctioned for use <br />by the Plastics Pipe Institute. <br />4.1.4 The minimum SDR pressure rating for the polyethylene pipe shall be <br />as specified on the Drawings. <br />4.3.5 Polyethylene fittings shall be made from material meeting the same <br />requirements as the pipe. Fittings shall be molded or fabricated by <br />the manufacturer of the pipe. Where applicable, fittings shall meet <br />the requirements of AWWA C906. The pressure rating of the pipe <br />fittings shall be equivalent to the pipe SDR rating specified on the <br />drawings. Molded fittings shall be manufactured in accordance <br />with ASTM D3261. <br />SPEC. C -PIPING <br />PAGE 4 <br />
