SPECIFICATION B <br />CONCRETE <br />1 SCOPE <br />' The work covered by this specification consists of furnishing all materials and <br />performing all operations required for the mixing and placing of concrete including <br />cement, aggregates, admixtures, reinforcement, and embedded materials as <br />shown on the Drawings. <br />2 GENERAL <br />2:1 PRE-CONCRETING APPROVALS <br />Before any concrete is placed, the design mix shall be submitted to the <br />Engineer for review, all formwork and embedded items shall have been <br />observed by the Engineer, and tests of all materials and concrete-placing <br />procedures shall have been completed and reviewed by the Engineer. <br />2.2 Re-bar, in general, shall be cut and bent to the required shape by the <br />manufacturer/supplier in the shop. The Contractor may field-cut or bend <br />bars as required by methods approved by the Engineer and this specifica- <br />tion. <br />3 APPLICABLE STANDARDS <br />The following publications of the latest issue are a part of this specification. <br />Where they are at variance with any applicable codes or ordinances, the more <br />stringent shall apply. <br />3.1 AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TESTING AND MATERIALS (ASTM) <br />3.1.1 CEMENT <br />ASTM C 150 Standard Specification for Portland Cement. <br />3.1.2 CONCRETE AGGREGATES <br />ASTM C 33 Standard Specification for Concrete Aggregates. <br />3.1.3 ADMIXTURES <br />ASTM C 260 Standard Specification for Air-Entraining Admixtures <br />for Concrete. <br />ASTM C 494 Standard Specification for Chemical Admixtures for <br />Concrete. <br />SPEC B -CONCRETE <br />PAGE 1 <br />
