I've written it in a format that directs the
question to the pennittee.
Dewatering of underground mine workings, the treatment and discharging of water
generated from mine dewatering, and the operation and maintenance of equipment and
facilities associated with mine dewatering are activities over which the Division exercises
regulatory authority. The Division cannot approve Phase III bond release over activities
within its jurisdiction that continue to occur at the time a Phase III bond release request is
submitted. As such, the Division may not be able to approve this Phase [II bond release
request in areas where mine dewatering activities are actively occurring. Please discuss
therefore whether the mine workings that lie beneath the areas subject to this bond release
request are currently being dewatered, and whether the water being generated from this
dewatering is being treated and discharged.
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation ARive and Inactive Mines Geological Survey
