Cover
2001 vegetative cover data for the irrigated pasture was collected to adequacy for both the
reclaimed area and the reference area. Irrigated pasture reference area cover in 2001 was 22.6%.
Ninety percent equals 20.3% cover as the required cover success standard based upon the 2001
sampling. Vegetative cover on the irrigated pasture in July 2001 measured 42.7%. The reclaimed
are successfully achieved and exceeded the required cover standard for 2001.
Although productivity data was not collected to adequacy in 2002, cover data on the irrigated
pasture reference azea and irrigated pasture reclaimed area were collected to adequacy. Vegetated
cover measured on the irrigated pasture reference area in June 2002 was 8.2%, not including
noxious species or undesirable forbs. The ninety percent standazd as required by Rule 4.15.8(3)
equals7.38% vegetative cover for 2002 data. Measured vegetative cover on the reclaimed
irrigated pasture in 2002 was 8.06%, not including noxious species or undesirable forbs.
Species Diversity
The reclamation success for species diversity calls for the establishment of three cool-season
perennial grasses and one perennial forb. Each species must have a minimum relative cover of 3
percent and a maximum relative cover of 40 percent. Four grass species; Smooth brome, Slender
wheatgrass, Western wheatgrass, and Orchardgrass meet this criteria, while Alfalfa achieves the
perennial forb requirement in the 2001 reclaimed irrigated pasture azea. No single species
exceeded the upper limit of 40 percent relative cover. 2002 reclaimed irrigated pasture data
demonstrated that three perennial grasses, Smooth brome, Slender wheatgrass, and Western
wheatgrass fulfill the required diversity standard, and Alfalfa meets the perennial forb
requirement for species diversity.
Reclamation Success
Kaiser Ventures has achieved reclamation success for cover, productivity, and species diversity
for the irrigated pasture based on 2001 and 2002 sampling data.
Chimney Rock Phase II Bond Release AVF Application Summary
Productivity
Reference Irrigated Pasture # Acres #samples Nm;° %cover Adequate? g/0.5 MZ Nm;° Adequate?
