Long <br />Division D~reUOr <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on July 7, 1998, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. <br />2 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources Limited. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This revision proposes to add 158 acres to the petittit area of a valid and exisCmg permit and to change the mine plan [o include <br />federal coal. The surface and subsurface of the additional acreage aze owned by Bowie Resources and by the Bureau of Land <br />Management. The proposed additions are located in Sections 2, 4 and 11 of Township 13 South, Range 91 Wes[, located in <br />the Terror Creek and Hubbard Creek drainages. This revision can not be approved until the federal coal lease has been <br />secured by Bowie Resources. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles nottheast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, l4, I5, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 90 West of the 6th P. M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Delta County Courthouse, 5th k Palmer, <br />Delta, CO 81416, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact the Division <br />of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to <br />comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter.
