Box 2679 Colorado Springs, CO 80901-2679 Re: Somerset Mine Permit Renewal, Permit No. C-81-022 Dear Mr, Balaz: We have received your application for renewal of a valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining in Colorado. Our initial review indicates that all preliminary items required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, C.R.S. 34-33-101 et seq. have been submitted. Thus, your application has been deemed complete for tie purposes of filing on this date, All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from this date of filing. The proposed newspaper advertisement submitted with the application should be modified slightly. Please give a general description of the mine location and reference the U.S.G.S 7.5 minute quadrangle map "Somerset" as showing the location of mine facilities. You should commence publication of this advertisement as specified in Rule 2.07,3(2) of the Regulations. Proof of the publication of the advertisement must be filed with the Division not later than four weeks after the last publication date, A copy of the application must be filed for public inspection with the appropriate public office as specified by you on the application form. Any subsequent changes or additions to the application must also be made in this local government copy. The staff is currently reviewing your application to determine whether the items you have submitted are adequate in terms of meeting the requirements of the Act and Regulations. Additional information may be required for purposes of adequacy. According to the provisions of Section 34-33-118(5) of the Act, you will be notified no later than June 11, 88 of this Division's preliminary findings as to the substantive adequacy of your application.
