A number of details with the timing of the DUSEL relative to the life of the Henderson Mine remain as issues, but there
does not appear to be any significant obstacle created by the reclamation permit for the Henderson Mine and the potential
use of the mine as a DUSEL. In fact, the DMG envisions a number of very positive effects in terms of best and highest
use of natural resources that would result from the use of the mine as a DUSEL. In particular, continued dewatering of
the DUSEL would provide a developed non-tributary water supply to Clear Creek, and would eliminate the potential for
contaminated mine water to emerge in surface streams if mine pumping were to cease.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
