MONITORING PROGRAM
Although we have a high degree of confidence in our calculated
distance to the "no change" line there is some uncertainty due to
the fact that the lateral variation of aquifer properties between
data points can only be estimated. Therefore, we recommend that
three observation wells .be installed as shown on Plates i and 2.
The depth to water should be monitored in these new observation
wells plus two of the closest existing water supply wells. The
three proposed monitoring wells are located so that two of the
wells are within the area of influence of the dewatering trench for
Stage 4 and the third is beyond the "no change" line. For Stage
6 an existing monitoring well is within the area of influence of
] the dewatering trench and one of the proposed monitoring wells is
just beyond the no change line. These wells should be monitored
on a monthly basis beginning as soon as possible and continuing
through the end of reclamation. Monitoring prior to mining will
provide information on the seasonal and annual changes in water
table. Monitoring during mining and reclamation will allow
determination as to whether or not any impact on wells is
occurring.
1
1
I
4
Leonard Rice Cans i ft Water Engineers,Inc.
