August 25, 2005
State of Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
RECEIVED
AUG 2 6 2005
Division ~f Minerals and GeolagY
Attn: Gregg R. Squire
Environmental Protection Specialist
Re: Permit# M-2000-16 AM-1
Lafarge West, Inc-Riverbend Operation
Dear Mr. Squire,
The above permit amendment is contiguous to a portion of land titled in the name of Margaret V. Morton,
Robert J. Stevens, and Larry L. Stevens and is more particularly described as follows:
136.83 acres of land situated in the Northeast Quarter (NEl/4) of Section Twelve (12), Township One (1)
North, Rauge Sixty-seven (67)West of the 6th P.M, County of Weld, State of Colorado, included as a part
of Lot B of Recorded Exemption No: 1469-IZ-1-RE 1525, as per the map recorded January 6, 1994 in Book
] 421 under Reception No. 2367922, being a part of the Southeast Quarter (SEl/4) of Section One (1) and the
Northeast Quarter (NEl/4) of Section Twelve (12), both being in Township One (1) North, Range Sixty-seven
(67) West of the 6th P.M, County of Weld, State of Colorado.
Approximately 50 feet from the south and west comer of the above described property there is an irrigation well
by Permit 1-12790 that is decreed in Water Cour[ Case No. W55. The Lafarge mining operation on the
adjoining properties situated to the immediate south and west of our well will presumably create a severe
hydrological impact on the water table and usefulness of that well for irrigating our farm. I respectfully request
a copy of the hydrological study that pertains to our well and a copy of the comments or findings provided to
you from the Lafarge application. Your conclusion as to the hydrological impact and requirements to mitigate
the loss of water and or our use of the well are also requested.
We would expect any mitigation over the toss of our well to be fully resolved prior to the issue of any mining
permit. At this time, we have not been contacted by either you or Lafarge regarding this matter.
We object to any impact that the mining and pit lining of the adjacent land will have upon our irrigation well
and farming operation.
Sincerely,
1'I?iu.sou.L V Yl"~-c~.~
ar t V.
