<br />Applegate <br />Group, tie. <br />September 26, 2006 <br />Ms. Ioana Comaniciu <br />State Engineer's Office <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 818 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />RE: Combined Substitute Water Supply Plan Renewal for the Home Office Pit, M-77-439, <br />Overland Ponds Site, M-02-081, and the North Taft Hill Expansion Site, M-O1-051 <br />Deaz Ms. Comaniciu: <br />On behalf of Lafazge West, Inc.; Applegate Group, Inc. requests a renewal of the combined substitute <br />water supply plan (SWSP) for the Home Office Pit, M-77-439, Overland Ponds Site, M-02-081, and <br />the North Taft Hill Expansion Site; M-O1-051. These three sites are located adjacent to one another <br />and. are being submitted as a combined substitute water supply plan. The State Engineer's Office <br />(SEO) most recently granted an approval in a letter dated December 2, 2004. Enclosed please fmd e <br />check (No. 27788) for $771.00 made out to the Division of Water Resources for the renewal of this <br />plan. <br />The only water use at the Overland Ponds and North Taft Hill Expansion Sites will be evaporation <br />from exposed groundwater. The North Taft Hill Expansion Site is currently inactive. Lafarge will <br />convey the mined material from the Overland Ponds Site to the existing facilities at the Home Office <br />Pit for processing throughout the yeaz. Water use at the Home Office Pit will continue to include <br />evaporation, water retained in mined product and dust control. <br />The combined plan will continue to use the recharge of the historic consumptive use credit from 5.75 <br />Taylor and Gill Ditch shares to make replacements and a lease from the Tri-Districts wiil also make <br />replacements. This combination of sources will replace all depletions in the combined SWSP during <br />Water Year 2007. <br />UPDATED CONSUMPTIVE USE <br />A summary showing the calculated consumptive use for each of the three mining sites is included in <br />Appendix A. Each summary reflects information from previous submittals. <br />i<lorae Ojfrce Pit <br />There are no changes in the consumptive uses associated with the Home Office Pit since the previous <br />approval. The total exposed surface area remains the same. Lafarge will continue to convey mined <br />material to the existing Home Office Pit processing facilities from the Overland Ponds Site.
