EXHIBIT G
water information
SURFACE WATER -The permit area is not prone to flooding from adjoining properties.
The largest drainage course in the vicinity is, Woody Creek, located adjacent to the
northerly permit boundary. Gravel extraction activities are separated from Woody Creek
by an undisturbed ridge approximately 80 above the flow-line of the creek. The Roaring
Fork River flows northerly approximately 1000 feet west of the permit boundary. Mining
is conducted in a manner that will not substantially increase the amount of surface storm
water runoff above historic flows. Any storm water runoff entering the site will be captured
within the pit area and allowed to evaporate or percolate into the ground. The existing pit
is covered by a NPDES permit for discharges associated with stormwater. The SWMP
associated with the permit will be amended prior to commencing the expanded mining
operation.
CONSUMPTIVE USES -Water is used on site when necessary to control dust in the
mining area, during crushing operations, and on haul roads. Additionally, water is needed
for concrete production. Estimated rates follow:
USE GALLON PER
DAY DAYS PER
YEAR ACRE FEET
PER YEAR
Dust Control 25,000 120 9.3
Concrete Plant 25,000 120 9.3
TOTAL 50,000 18.6
The water supply for these uses is from an existing well located within.the permit boundary.
Water is pumped from the well to an existing storage pond located between the asphalt
and concrete plants. In 1981 a water right was obtained from the District Water Court. A
copy of the decree and the Well Registration are on the following pages.
G-1
