• i
EXHIBIT E
reclamation plan
The reclamation plan calls for returning the disturbed areas, after mining and reclamation,
to a land use that is rangeland within the extraction area. This land use is consistent with
those found in the surrounding area.
The predominate feature of the reclaimed area will be a flat graded area approximately 80
feet below the surrounding undisturbed elevation. Exhibit F depicts a configuration of the
ground surface area which will result after the gravel resource has been removed.
BACKFILLING AND GRADING - As the gravel extraction activities are completed, the
backfilling and grading activities will commence. The backfilling and grading sequence will
be as follows:
1. The stockpiled soil will be hauled from a centrally located stockpile area by mobile
equipment to the extraction site and placed where required to achieve a level
topography and properly backfilled slopes. The soil source will be obtained from the
previously constructed visual berms that surround the employee housing area and
along the westerly side of the extraction area. Additionally, stockpiled soil from outside
sources will also be used as backfill material.
2. Backfill will be graded to proper slopes using dozers or similar equipment . All slopes
will be graded no steeper that a ratio of 2:1 (horizontal to vertical). Grading will be done
by dozers which will compact and stabilize the overburden material through normal
operations.
Selective handling and placement of backfill materials will be necessary. Most of the
backfill material will be imported mountainous type soil from the surrounding area and
should not present any toxicity problems.
E-7
