<br />As-built Information for Sylvester Gulch Facilities Area
<br />Dear Mr. Ward:
<br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116,
<br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 7, 1998, an application to revise coal mining
<br />operations at the West Elk Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted
<br />by Mountain Coal Company, LLC.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Ac[ and the Regulations
<br />initiate from this date of filing.
<br />This revision updates the permit with as-built information for the Sylvester Gulch facilities area.
<br />The underground coal mining operation is on iand located approximately 9 miles east of Paonia, Colorado. The
<br />permit area is further described as follows:
<br />Portions or all of Sections 9, 10, 15, 17, 18, l9, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 34, 35, and 36,
<br />Township 13 South, Range 90 West of the 6th P.M.; and portions or all of Sections 23, 24, 25, and 26, Township
<br />13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
<br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Bowie and Somerset.
<br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Gunnison County Courthouse,
<br />200 E Virginia, Gunnison, CO 81230, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide wri«en
<br />comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver,
<br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. in order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that
<br />comments be submitted within fifteen (l5) days of this letter. If no comments are received by then, we will
<br />proceed on the assumption that you have no concerns with, or objections to, the applicant's proposal.
