. /J
,,,toot of epaatw.aa,

,
r
1 Ruth Gray
Skelton Inc.
Harwood, CO 81423
Dear Ruth:
_ I visited the site regarding the
existing gravel mining operation:
i Sec 13, T45N, R13W and San Miguel
~'. T45N, R13W.
F'
~ Hx'_stin Ve etation
i• g K
HIBiT B-1
age 1
March 16, 1988
potential expansion of the
tdcntrose County, SW~,idW?~
County, NWT, Sld~, Sec 13,
• The plant community is basicly a sagebrush community. The
` Wyoming bigsage makes up approximately 45 ~ of the vegetative
cover where it dominates. In these areas the grasses make up
approximately 30 percent of the cover and are: Indian ricegrass,
Mutton grass, Bottlebrush squirltail, and~Galetta. There are
areas where surface disturbance has occured (old airstrip and
vehicle traffice) and there is evidence of reseeding. Here the
plant community is approximately 80 percent grass: Crested wheatgrass,
and those which appeared on the previously mentioned site.
Snakeweed, green rabbitbrush and wyoming bigsage accure here and
make up approximately 15 S of the plant community.
Soils:
A cooy of the soil trap is attached as are the narrative descriptions.
Note that on thb soil map is shown the location of existing gravel
mire operations on the same soils. The soils are Radersburg and .Callan.
Revegetation:
Topsoil will vary in depth. In some areas it will be difficult to
save due to shallowness to gravel. an other areas it will be thick
enough to save - in fact can be 5 Faet or more deep. Where possible,
topsoil should be saved by stockpiling. These piles should be
seeded during early winter (after October 15) to keep the soil in place
until used for reseeding. Seed with Western wheatgrass using the
rate of 16 pound of Pure Live Seed per acre. Seed companies can
figure bulk seed required to get the PLS recommended rate. When
reclaiming, the area should first be rough leveled to natural grade;
topsoil then spread over the area at a depth of 4 to 6 inches;
seeding is the final step. See attached grass planned seeding worksheet.

TM 50~ COn.wv.tton s.rv.c.
.J u M .D.nCY OI IM
O.D.rtm.nt OI ADrcultur.
