Aggregate Source
Permit No. M-77-193
Dear Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board Member:
I oppose T.H.E. Aggregate Source, Inc., being allowed a modifica-
tion of the Board's Notice and Order of November 27, 1995. The Flermit
amendment is void.
I desire that stormwater controls be installed and that no further
mining disturbance be allowed. I believe that T.H.E. Aggregate E•ource,
Inc., should not be allowed to expand disturbance on Fremont Peak..
The existing mining has caused very serious environmental impact.
The historic mountain, Fremont Peak, is defaced; historic Tunnel
Drive is a Truck Route; the historic Saddle and Bridle Trail up Fremont
Peak is closed. Further mining activity will specifically eliminate the
canyon which the Saddle and Bridle Club used for 60 years until the
present mining started. The historic tunnels which gave the city street
its name are closed off from public use. The mining disturbance has
effectively discouraged development and repair of the road and bridge
on the western end of the drive. The historic agriculture of the area
is impacted; historic orchards are endangered.
All of the issues of conservation are here to be addressed. This
quarry is a high wall directly above houses. The ground water issues
have been severely minimized by the quarrel over a person's right. to
mine his land. The home owners and their homes are in danger richt now.
