Dear Ms. Pogue:
The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118,
Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on January 21, 1997, a permit renewal application for a permit
to conduct coal mining operations, Permit No. G-81-033 by Bear Coal Company, Inc., was considered complete
for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining
Reclamation Act and the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining
initiate from this date of filing.
The applicant proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located near
Somerset. Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows:
Township 13 South, Range 90 West, 6th P.M.
Section 8: S/2 SE/4 South of the River
Section 9: All South of the River
Section 15: W/2 NW/4, W/2 SE/4
Section 16: All
Section t7: All except portions of the N/2 NW/4 and except portions of the NW/4 NE/4
Section 18: SE/4 SFJ4, NE/4 SE/4, SE/4 NW/4
Section 20: NW/4, NE/4
Section 21: N/2 NE/4, N/2 NW/4, SW/4 NWl4
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Somerset, Colorado.
A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Gunnison County Courthouse, 200 E.
Virginia, Gunnison, GO 81230. For additional information, to provide written comments, or request an informal
