NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to Withdraw Technical Revision Application
No. 35 (TR-35) for the Bowie Mine No. 1 (Permit No. C-1981-038), submitted by Bowie Resources
Limited (BRL). The request to withdraw TR-35 was made by BRL. TR-35 would have provided for the
removal of the Bowie No. 1 train loadout and stockpile azea, including the associated reclamation
liability, from the Bowie No. 1 permit. Under a sepazate revision, Technical Revision No. 19 (TR-19),
the Bowie No. 1 Mine train loadout and stockpile azea, including the associated reclamation liability,
would have been added to the Bowie No. 2 permit. BRL has also requested that TR-19 be withdrawn.
The transfer of the Bowie No. 1 Mine train loadout and stockpile area, including the associated
reclamation liability, to the Bowie No. 2 Mine permit is no longer needed since a new train loadout was
constructed under the Bowie No. 2 Mine permit.
The Bowie Mine No. 1 is an underground coal mine located in Delta County, approximately 3 miles north
of Paonia, Colorado. Coal interest is Federal and private, and the surface affected is Federal and private
land. The permit area encompasses approximately 8,670.00 acres.
Copies of the proposed decision are on file for public inspection at the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203. Persons with
an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before
the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd on the proposed decision. Such request must be made within ten
(10) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable
specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed decision.
