~°`~
C III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
~~~~ ~~ ~.' ~~ ~ _~• 999
~. ~~. ~-
CCCIII APR 2 ~ 1989 ~L
;!•-
~r.;;i_C _. ..:.
,. . ~,•
Shirley Blackburn
409 Washington
Manitou Springs, CO 80829 April 24, 1989
'Ib: Mined Land Reclamation Board
I vehemently protest the amendment to Snyder Quarry, slightly north of Manitou
Springs. I live just south of this area and I do not want my air polluted
with the dust from the mining or the exhaust fumes from the trucks that will
be exiting not far from my hmie. I built my home in this area because of
the beauty and clean air. You can no doubt see from the other "scars" on the
mountains in this area, that the beauty and environment are slowly being
ruined and what the tourist cane to see will no longer exist. I have
concerns for the wildlife as I have often observed the deer in the hills
around Williams and Black Canyon and I am sure the few that stray down
into my neighborhood in the winters, have cane fxtia[t those hills. Access
from this area will be a traffic hazard that we local's don't want to
contend with and will certainly cause a lot of anxiety with our summer
tourists visiting the Garden of the Gods. Allowing Castle Concrete to
develop and mine will level South Peak. Can you allow this destruction?
Please reconsider your decision and save our mountains: I have attached
some additional information.
'I9~ank you.
Sincerely,
