EXHIBIT D
Mining Plan
Exhibit D map displays the phasing of mining and reclamation for the Camilletti Pit.
Activities at the pit include material extraction, handling, stockpiling and hauling. The
southern expansion of the pit will be performed using standard gravel mining practices
with the extensive use of front-end loaders and occasionally hydraulic excavators and
scrapers. Scrapers are utilized for topsoil and overburden removal and during
backfilling and reclamation. Phased mining will be coordinated with the removal and
stockpiling of topsoil and overburden, and backfilling and reclamation to minimize the
amount of disturbances at any one time. It is anticipated that the maximum amount of
disturbance at any one time would be less than 15 acres. The purpose of the mining
activity is to provide aggregate and related products, especially pit run, base course
gravel (road base), and overburden for structural fill and road projects. Pit run gravel
will either be loaded directly into haul trucks or moved to the crusher. Specification
aggregates will be crushed and produced on a limited basis depending on our future
projects and contracts. Materials, topsoil, and overburden will be stockpiled on the pit
floor. There will also be stockpiling of topsoil and overburden in berms around the pit.
1. Dates of Mining: Connell Resources, Inc. anticipates mining the Camilletti Pit for a
ten-year period. Mining will continue this year with the current 110c permit and based
upon approval mine to the year 2010 with the 112c permit. The mining area per year
will average between one to two acres.
2. Depth of Salvage Topsoil: Recent exploration test pits in the southern expansion
area indicated an average topsoil thickness of six inches. This is consistent with the
original 1987 SCS soil investigation and historic mining in the pit. Topsoil stripping will
also be phased with mining and reclamation to minimize disturbances. Topsoil
stockpiles will be located in berms along the pit perimeter at the top of the slopes and
will be maintained separately from the other stockpiles. Topsoil may also be stockpiled
on the pit floor. Some of the stockpiled topsoil will be used for slope reclamation that
will be concurrent with mining. Topsoil that is going to be stockpiled for more than one
growing season will be seeded.
3. Overburden Thickness: The recent exploration test pits in the southern expansion
area showed the overburden to range from 8 to 14 feet in thickness. The overburden
a
