Tom LeMire is a zoning person in charge of
• 2 zoning in Boulder County.
Since there were so many unpermitted sandstone
quarry operations north of Lyons, we decided that it might
be best if Jay and myself go up to Lyons and talk to all the
quarrymen. So we asked a few of the quarrymen if they would
contact, oh, their brethren to find a meeting place in the
town of Lyons, which we did. We had a two-hour meeting, or
something on that order.
At that time, we brought numerous copies of
the Act and Rules and Regulations, application forms, and
that sort of thing--answered questions as best we could and
• 13 asked that people, if they had any further questions, get
in contact with us; that we would be happy to help them with
their applications.
I believe--well, we didn't get a very wild
response after that meeting. It took a few months, but we
did get one person who submitted an application and a few
more have become permitted since that time.
But there's still quite a few other unpermitted.
operations north of Lyons, that we just don't have a handle
on as of yet.
That's the history up to now.
THE CHAIRMAN: fdr. french, would you like to
•
comment?
neeL.~~c,IRrea~rr.R,e nssuc/.ar/:c nr
crrnfrA SLon band Rrponrr.~
Oirrn ~ Jlr Rout
Lrtlrrun.
