Long <br />31 SUttle Dr1Ve Division Director <br />Durango, CO 81301 <br />Re: King Coal Mine (Permit No. C-1981-035) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 4 (RN-4) <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragaph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 4, 2002, an application to renew an existing permit <br />to conduct coal mining operations at the King Coal Mine Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. <br />All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules <br />initiate from this date of Filing. <br />National King Coal, LLC proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land <br />located approximately 7 miles southwest of Hesperus, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />All or Portions of Sections 28, 29, 31, 32, T35N, R11W, NMPM; Portions of Sections 5 and 6, T34N, R11W; <br />Portions of Sections 36, T35N, R12W. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Hesperus. <br />This is the fourth renewal of National King Coal's permit to conduct coal mining operation at its present location. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the La Plata County Courthouse, 1060 E <br />Second Ave, Durango, CO 81301, and at the Division office.
