Long <br />Dwrsion Dneuor <br />Pursuant to Title 34, Article 35, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised <br />Statutes, the Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on <br />May 21, 1993, a technical revision application for a permit to conduct coal <br />mining operations by Rimrock Coal Company, 1390 Ash Street, Denver, CO 80220, <br />was deemed complete for the purposes of filing. All reviews and comment <br />periods as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate <br />from this day of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to revise surface coal mining operations at the Rimrock <br />Mine. The technical revision would provide design for an existing sump and <br />ditch and provide design for and install an additional sump and ditch. <br />The permit area is described as follows: <br />N 1/2 of Section 29, Township 33 South, Range 63 West <br />of the 6th P.M., in Las Animas County. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 1.5 minute Quadrangle map <br />of Trinidad East. <br />Because the above referenced technical revision application might alter <br />previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are <br />requesting your agency's evaluation of the potential for impacts to threatened <br />or endangered species of plants or animals, or wildlife species otherwise <br />protected by federal law. Applicable sections of the revision application are <br />enclosed. Please advise us if you require additional information. <br />In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology at the above <br />address by 5:00 p.m. on July 13, 1993. If no comments are received by this <br />date, we will proceed on the assumption that your agency has no concerns with <br />or objections to the applicant's proposal. <br />
