12
1 CHAIRMAN BROWN: Okay. I'm wandering if we're
•
2 head;ng in the right direction now. I don't know what fine
3 we're going to issue to this man, but I don't think whatever
4 it is is going to pay court costs, the way it sounds. Even if
5 it's a thousand dollars or whatever, if we go to having the
6 Sheriff issue subpoenas and getting him here and then going to
7 court, those costs just stack up so fast that pretty quick
$ we're losing our profit.
9 MR. WOODS: We may be able to get our attorney's
10 fees. There is a relatively new statute where monetary damages
11 are sought.
12 MR. BARRY: Larry, I'd also point out the basis
13 upon which we -- ;,use, cost is some consideration but there's
14 a base cost for attorney General services built into both their
15 budget and ours. And I personally don't think th,st's a factor
16 in deciding here which way we go. It just, you know, it
17 doesn't come cut that cleanly and say that the costs are so
lg great for us we can't do it. It's built into our :base and
19 their base and it just is a little bit different than, say,
20 Private corporatiol~ money out of pocket to go to court. It ~
21 isn't quite the sal.le idea.
22 MR. :HELTON: The subpoena is not l:ostly. I
23 mean you do have tc. pay some mileage and some expenses, but
24 that's a relatives: low cost. The cost is going to court and
•
25 I think what Lew sL.ia is very important, if we do have to go
EIl.EfA'('ARPL'ATL'N 5.9 S'S 0(/.9 /F.5', It'C '
GnifirJ S'hunhand Rrpunrn
lJ00 ChrrrrvJlr N~iuJ
' Lndrmn.
