Dave has suggested that the meeting
start at 10:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon, but to allow sufficient time for these very important discussions,
MCC favors a start time of 9:00 a.m.
The primary purpose of this meeting is to provide the results of technical analyses regarding water being
discharged from the Bear Mine area that is allegedly originating at the West Elk Mine. MCC will also provide
a written summary of these results, and a brief follow-up report of the landslide findings presented to you on
December 18, 1997. MCC also believes that this meeting will provide the Division with the necessary
information to resolve outstanding issues in the matter of the NOV as well as MCC's Probable Hydrologic
Consequence revision submittal.
For your planning and consideration, the following people will be attending the meeting representing Mountain
Coal Company:
Kathy Welt, MCC Dr. Alan Mayo, Mayo and Associates, Inc.
Phil Schmidt, MCC Dr. Bob Weiner, Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
Gene DiClaudio, MCC Jonathan Jones, Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
Kirk Mueller, ARCO Coal
Terry O'Connor may attend depending on the resolution of a schedule conFlict. Additionally, Mountain Coal
Company appreciates the attendance of key Division personnel.
Mountain Coal Company looks forward to this presentation as a constructive exchange.
