active nest sites are located, a Forest Service wildlife specialist will be contacted to determine if <br />project activities need to be modified to prevent impacts on the nesting birds. <br />Water Resources <br />9. No refueling or lubricating will take place within 100 feet of wetlands and other waterbodies or <br />drainages. Heavy equipment, hazardous materials, chemicals, fuels, etc., will not be stored within <br />100 feet of wetlands or surface waters. <br />10. No soil generated from excavation, site preparation, or other operations shall be deposited within <br />100 linear feet of any drainage with flowing water unless specifically approved by the District <br />Ranger. <br />Vegetation <br />11. All merchantable timber cleared from the MDW-LW9-01 access road and pad will be cut into a <br />maximum 8' lengths and decked at the intersection of the new access road to the Hubbard Creek <br />Road, allowing for public assess to the material. The merchantable timber is owned by the United <br />States and will be retained for future sale. <br />12. No new surface disturbance will be allowed in wetland, floodplain, or riparian areas except as <br />specifically approved, or on existing transportation routes. <br />13. The Operator will be responsible for controlling noxious weed infestations on all NFS project <br />disturbance areas from the date of discovery up to the point of release of the CDMG reclamation <br />bond and associated reclamation liability. Any herbicides used must be USFS approved and will be <br />applied at the recommended rates by a certified applicator in compliance with State laws. <br />14. Reseeding will be completed on disturbed soils, by the end of the first growing season, using a <br />certified weed free source of seed. The Operator will be responsible for controlling noxious weeds <br />until final reclamation is accepted by the Forest Service. Any hay or straw used shall be certified as <br />weed free. Reseeding will be done with the following seed mixes: <br />In the mountain shrub community: <br />Species lbs./acre <br />Mountain Brome 4 <br />Prairie junegrass 1.5 <br />Western wheatgrass 4 <br />Indian ricegrass 1.5 <br />Sandberg bluegrass 4 <br />Bluebunch wheatgrass 3 <br />Penstemon strictus .3 <br />Coreposis lancelota .1 <br />Acheillea milleforium v. occidentialis .3 <br />Totals 18.7 <br />The seed mix must be 99% pure live seed containing a maximum of 1% weeds none of <br />which are noxious. Seed must be distributed at the specified lbs. per acre. <br />Land Use and Recreation <br />15. To avoid conflicts with hunter use in the area, mobilization or demobilization of drilling equipment <br />will not be allowed on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the opening weekends of the <br />muzzleloader season, the first big game rifle season and the second big game rifle season. <br />
