VEGETATION INFORMATION <br />Vegetation at the Quagmire Pit consists of a vaziety of grasses, fortis, shrubs and a <br />thin overstory of trees. Groundcover throughout the site ranges from IO% to 40%. <br />Groundcover was greater higher on the slope where grasses were more abundant. Trees <br />identified on site included: Ponderosa pine to 45 feet in height at 15 trees/acre, Douglas <br />fir to 40 feet at 2 trees/acre, aspen to 30 feet at 5 trees/acre, pinion to 10 feet at 10 trees/ <br />acre, juniper to 10 feet at 2 trees/acre, and Gamble oak to 15 feet at 2 trees/acre. Shrubs <br />identified on site included: Squaw currant, mountain mahogany, rabbitbrush, and a few <br />mountain snowberry higher on the slope. Grasses and fortis identified at the site <br />included: blue grams, mountain muhly, Arizona fescue, prairie junegrass, western <br />wheatgrass and fringed sage. Throughout the site significant amounts of yucca can be <br />found on the hillside along with bunches of willows beside the roadway and in drainages. <br />
