Long <br />Trinidad, CO 81082 Division Director <br />Re: Lorencito Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-1996-084) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 1 (RN-1) <br />Dear Las Animas County Planning Department: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, <br />Paragraph 3, of [he Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 18, 2002, an application to renew an existing permit to <br />conduct coal mining operations at the Lorencito Canyon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. <br />All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules <br />initiate from this date of filing. <br />Lorencito Coal Company, LLC proposes to continue surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land <br />located approximately 3 miles west of Seglutdo on Hwy 12. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Lands south of the Purgatoire River, lands east of Cow Canyon, lands north of Puertecito Canyon, and lands west <br />of Little Jeff Canyon, covering approximately 3142 acres. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Little Pine Canyon. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas County Courthouse, 200 <br />East First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082.
