~~
Date: September 29, 1994
TO: Mike Long
FROM: Susan McCannon
RE: Carbon Junction NOV C-94-021
• iii~uiiiil~rriii~i
999
Harry Ranney has completed an engineering review of NOV C-94-021 to
determine if the crushed and obstructed culverts could safely pass
the designed 10 yr 24 hr discharge of 39.75 cfs.
The violation concerned two sets of triple 24" culverts. The upper
set had one crushed culvert and assuming the culvert was 90$
closed, the set would pass a 39.91 cfs flow. This, therefor would
still safely pass the designed event.
The lower set had one culvert approximately 30$ filled with
sediment. Since the other two 24~~ culverts were clean and there is
5 feet of head associated with this set, they were capable of
passing 89 cfs of flow.
Although the culverts needed maintenance and cleaning, it is
apparent that a violation did not exist at the time of the
inspection, therefor, I recommend that you vacate NOV C-94-021.
