The certification should be placed in the front of Exhibit 7, Sediment Control
Design Criteria, and the map replaces Map 8, Drainage Control of the permit document.
Kaiser also requests suspension of the current surface and groundwater monitoring program as a
result of Phase II approval and elimination of the sediment control system. All wells and surface
stations will remain in place and will be sampled in anticipation of Phase III release as that process
begins in the year 2000. Hydrologic reporting is also requested to be suspended until sampling
resumes. The 1997 monitoring report will be submitted in January 1998 for data collected during
the quarterly sampling this year.
Should you have questions or need additional information concerning this request, please do not
hesitate to contact Mr. Mike Keegan or let me know.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~
Jerry H.
