Leave unsalvageable topsoil on
new Ashmore pit haul road.
During the stripping of topsoil on the new Ashmore pit haul road, a small area of
sandstone outcrop and steep rocky slopes were encountered., This small area
(0.6 acres) is too steep to safely operate equipment and there is little salvage-
able topsoil.
As outlined in Section 4.9.1 of Trapper's Mining and Reclamation Permit, a minor
revision is being requested Co leave this area. More than sufficient topsoil was
stripped from adjacent areas of roadway to reclaim this small area. Revised
permit map M56 is attached outlining the area to be excluded from topsoil strip-
ping. As approved by technical revision TR-39, 39 acres of roadway will be
stripped with 98,000 yards of topsoil to be salvaged. By excluding the 0.6 acres
requested to be left in place, approximately 97,800 yards will be removed
instead. Future reclamation of the 39 acres of roadway to rangeland will require
nearly 63,000 yards. Thus, there is sufficient topsoil available to reclaim the
entire roadway if the topsoil stripping exclusion area is approved.
Thank you for your cooperation with this revision. Please contact me if you need
further information to process this revision.
Best regards,
~~~
H. Bruce Humphries
Sr. Env.
