General Comments
A complete quarterly inspection was conducted in the accompaniment of
Rick Tift and Richard Wright. Rick Tift has assumed the hydrologic monitoring
responsibilities for the mine.
The entire surface facilities area was walked and no violations were
observed. The portion of the mine water discharge ditch between the coal
stockpile and Sediment Pond "D" was in need of clean-out, though the ditch was
still functional.
The overflow channel between Pit 2 and Sediment Pond "D" had been recently
completed and riprapped. The channel was approximately four feet wide by two
feet deep. Approved designs for the channel were reviewed subsequent to the
inspection. Designs specify an eight foot wide channel.
The channel will need to be enlarged to comply with the approved design. The
approved channel will need to be in place prior to commencement of backfilling
Pit 2 later this summer.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
