Lone <br />Gwrsron DirecW( <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues Halite, in accordance with Title 34, Anicle 33, Section 1 l6, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on ]uly 2, 1998, an application to revise coal mining operations at the North <br />Thompson Creek Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by MINREC, [nc.. <br />All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This revision would modify the current reclamation-only permit [o answer [hose issues brought forward during the current <br />process of permi[ renewal of a valid, existing permi[. The permit renewal issues involved upda[ing the current slams of [he <br />mine site and [he mine dischazge flow as well as reclamation issues concerning revegetation and backfilling the portal. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 10 miles southwest of Carbondale, Colorado. The <br />permit azea is further described as follows: <br />T85, R89W; Portions of Sections 2l, 22, 27, 28, 33, 34 and 35 <br />T9S, R89W; Portions of Sections 2, 3 and 4 <br />T7S, R88W; Portions of Sections 20, 29, 30 and 32 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Stoney Ridge and Carbondale. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Garfield County Courthouse, 109 8th S[ <br />Ste 200, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, and at the Division office. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen <br />(IS) days of this letter.
