T{olgate:
Re: Sanborn Creek Mine
ID #05-09952
Ventilation System and
Methane and Dust Control
Plan
Attached are three maps of the C-Seam section of Sanborn Creek
Mine wY~ich will be used as a water sump. The maps show the
present water level, the water level at the 5880 ft. elevation
during filling, and the maximum water level at the 5890 ft.
elevation point.
The water level will be maintained at the 5890 elevation point
plus or minus two feet. Sump level fluctuations will be
controlled by regulating the inflow and/or the outflow of the
water.
There will be 4 evaluation points established on the intake Bide
of the sump, and 2 evaluation Points established on the return
side of tY~e sump, i.e.; an evaluation point will be established
in each entry of the sump area. The evaluation points will be
estoblisiled at the toe of the water line. Checlt curtains will be
.set, and maintained, in the cross-cuts between evaluation points
to improve point evaluation.
The sump area (all evaluation, points) will be checked in
accordance with 30CFR75.364, and the rosults recorded.
Somerset Mining Company is requesting approval of this area for
use as a water sump. Your immediate attention in this matter is
appreciated.
Very Truly Yours,

Walter L. Wright
Mine,Manager -
P O.
