Pursuant to Title 33, Article 34, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised
Statutes, the Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on
March 10, 1993, an application for rene+val of a valid, existing permit to
conduct coal mining operations by Cyprus Empire Corporation, P.O. Box 68,
Craig, Colorado 81625, was deemed complete for the purposes of filing. All
reviews and comment periods as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated
thereunder initiate from this day of filing.
The applicant proposes to continue conducting underground coal mining
operations on lands located in portions of Township 6 North, Range 91 West;
Township 6 North, Range 92 West; Township 5 North, Range 92 West; and
Township 5 North, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M., more specifically described
on attached figure. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.

In order for us to approve this renewal application, we are required to
confirm that projections and assumptions in the permit remain valid and that
the operation is in compliance with the approved permit. We are requesting
your agency's evaluation of the renewal application with respect to the
continued validity of the assumptions and projections of the mining and
reclamation plan which relate to fish and wildlife considerations, including
potential impacts to threatened or endangered species.
