EVALUATION OF POTENTIAL MINING SUBSIDENCE EFFECTS
ON TATUM RESIDENCE
INTRODUCTION
Wright Water Engineers, Inc. (WWE) has been retained by Basin Resources, Inc. (Basin) to
evaluate the technical merits of allegations made by Jim and Ann Tatum that underground coal
mining by Basin has caused cracking at their house after 1997. John Rold, adjunct senior geologist, is the principal investigator for
W WE.
Tasks conducted in preparation of this report included:
• Conducting a site visit
• Reviewing previous reports and background information
• Assessing the availability and relevance of seismic data
• Analyzing subsidence data relevant to the problem
• Evaluating the site geology
• Evaluating the timing of observations at the Tatum residence and mining events
SUMMARY
Basin Resources, Inc. (Basin) retained Wright Water Engineers, Inc. (WWE) to evaluate whether
mining operations in the azea have caused cracking in the Tatum residence since 1997.
