Environn7ent~d Consultants, lac.
RECEIVED
Augus[ 6, 1999
Mr. Tom Kaldenbach
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Minerals and Geololry
215 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203-2273
RE: Technical Revision 99-31 -Stream Bank Stabilization
Eagle Mines (Permit C-81-044)
Dear Mr. Kaldenbach:
AU6 0 91999
Oivlsan of Minerals 8 Geology
Cyprus Empire Corporation hereby submits and requests approval ofTechnical Revision 99-31 for
a bank stabilization project on the Williams Fork River. River meanders have developed adjacent
to the railroad spur and future cutting will endanger the foundation of the railroad tracks. As a
result, bank stabilization will be conducted using rock veins (jetties) in the affected area. A design
package has been developed and is attached for your review and approval. This design package has
also been submitted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for approval through their General Permit
process.
A temporary access road and equipment laydown area will be used to facilitate construction of the
rock veins. These areas account for approximately 0.6 acres ofdisturbance which will be reclaimed
following construction. Since this is a limited area ofdisturbance with minimal impact for short
duration (only one week), no topsoil is proposed to be removed or salvaged. Reclamation will
consist of removal of all construction materials, grading any ruts or surface damage, and seeding
with the approved Pastureland Seed Mix. Total bond for the project has been calculated at $] ,000.
The rock veins are permanent structures and no associated bond has been calculated for these.
The attached page 2.05-13.1 of the Permit has been revised to reflect the inclusion of the design
package as Exhibit 2A. Also attached is a Technical Revision Form and a proposed public notice
for your review and approval.
5231 Sourh Qucbec Strecr • Greenwood Village, Colorado 801 I I
Phonc (303) 850-0930 • Faz (303j 721-9298
Web Sire: www.greysrone-consuhanu.com • E-mail: greysioneC'grzystone-consuliams.com
