As indicated,
well drilling will begin in August 1485, and nahcolite mining will begin in
November 1985. Pilot mining operation will proceed for 1 to 2 years.
The Pilot Solution Mine will operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Maintenance will be scheduled, as required. Since the proposed mining plan
involves solution mining, the only underground maintenance required relates
to scaling in the production piping.
D.4 ANCILLARY FACILITIES
D.4,1 Access Road
The existing access road (Yellow Creek Jeep Trail) will be widened and
graveled from the paved Ryan Gulch Road (and County Road 83) to the plant
site. As shown in Exhibit B, the proposed up-graded road sections total
3.25 miles in length and extend from the County Road in Section 4, T2S, R98W
• across BLM lands to the IRI Sodium Minerals Lease, terminating at the plant
site.
