CX-186-00
Dear Mr. Mathews:
M .~
~~~,-., j
ti jo.,
03
_: r~s
During your inspection of the exploration site on November 2,
1983, you noticed three items that concerned you:
1. Material being placed on
facilities area.
2. Sediment pond dewatering
installed.
3. Diversion ditch D-1 not
the edge of the surface
device and spillway not
completed.
Contractors were contacted to provide equipment to complete
the work in the sediment pond on November 3, 1983, but due to
weather and equipment availability, the pond was not completed
until No~sember 17, 1983•
Work commenced on the 4th of November to remove the material
placed on the out-slope of the surface facilities area. The
material was removed the 17th of November.
Diversion Ditch D-1 had been constructed at the time of the
inspection. The natural drainage at the upper end was used
to transport the water above the upper area. The lower end
of the ditch had been cut out providing the required amount
of area for the required flow, At the time of the inspection,
you maintained the ditch, as constructed, did not appear to
conform to the design drawing. Therefore, I believe that
portion of NOV 83-30 should be vacated. The diversion ditch
reconstruction was completed on November 18, 1983•
Sincerely,
i /:
,,
Stephen Self/
General Manager
SS~mr
