Long
Division Director
RE: Third party sampling project contract; Battle Mountain Gold Inc.; San Luis
Project; Permit No. M-88-112
VIA FAXSIMILE TRANSMISSION
Dear Ms. Maest:
The third party sampling contract for the San Luis Project has yet to be signed.
The attorney handling the negotiations between the State of Montana and
RCG/Hagler Bailey (RCGHB) has assured me that RCGHB has given verbal approval of
the terms of the revised contract and that these changes were forwa$ded to RCCHB
last week. Conversations with your office this week led me to (believe that
someone there would either finalize the contract or get back in touch with me
this week. To date, no one.has contacted me.
Please know that the Division of Minerals and Geology is acting under an Order
from the Mined Land Reclamation Board to carry out the third part}f independant
sampling as soon as possible. Unless we hear affirmatively from your office
within a reasonable amount of time, we will need to make other arrangements for
sampling. I anticipate that if the Division has not successfully implemented its
first round of sampling by the October 21-22 Board Meeting, th Board will
instruct the Division to contract with another party.
My schedule will permit,,a. site visit either on October 6, 8, 12, L6, 19 or 20.
I strongly prefer a site visit on October 8. I would like to be present at the
first sampling, but if this is not possible we can certainly accommo ate. As you
know, you and I will need to make arrangements with the mine staff and probably
with Halapeska and Associates.
I will be in the office Friday, October 2, and Monday, October 5 unit it 1:30 pm.
The receptionist will have evening phone numbers for me otherwise. Please call
me as soon as possible so that I can make arrangements with the mir;e staff. My
home phone is 233-1318. Thank you for your pending rapid response..
Sincerely,
i n
Harr H. Pose ~%
Geologist
aF coto
~~ o
",';~'^:
ra~
cc: Larry Oehler
