Section 780.18 (b) Co~ ued. •
Reclamation Soil Testing Plan
In order to assure that the reapplied topsoil will support the proposed
pOStm1ILUYj land uses. 'Ihe results of the reclamation mDnltarlllg program will be
reviewed to evaluate the need far fertilizer aewTM~*+ts.
Reclamation monitarir-g will consist of evaluating cover on pasturelarrl sites, aryl
Dover shrub density on three year old reclaimed rangeland sites during 1990. If
a site is not within 60$ of the mean cover for three year old reclaimed stands
of that year, then the site will be monitored far the next one ar i_f Weeders two
years to detPrm;*+P trend. If there is no sicg~ificant improvement in the relative
ax~osition of desirable species then soil fertility sampling far nitrogen and
phosphorus will be conducted. If testing reveals deficiencies then nitrogen and
ar phosptrorvs will be applied at the rimed rate far dry land range (Guide
to Fertilizer Re~mrendations in Colorado, Soltanpoar 1978) . Fertilizer will be
applied by ,oPa*L~ of amventional top dressing over the reclaimed site.
In future years, production will be sampled in addition to cover and woody plant
density on 3 year old reclaimed rargelarri sites, with cover and production being
sampled on pastureland sites.
MR 90-63 780-138 Revisers 11/19/90
