Brush management improves <br /> deteriorated areas of range that are producing more woody shrubs than <br /> were present in the potential plant community. <br /> This unit provides wildlife habitat for mule deer, rabbits, hawks <br /> 1 <br /> and eagles. <br /> This map unit is in capability subclass VIs, non-irrigated. Pinon <br /> soils and Bowdish soils are in the Pinyon-Juniper woodland site and <br /> • Progresso soils are in the Loamy Foothills #284 range site. <br /> 900 - Rock Outcrop/Orthents, Complex, 40% to 90% Slopes <br /> This map unit is on .extremely rough and eroded areas on side slopes <br /> of canyons, mesas, and benches. Areas are irregular in shape and are <br /> forty to 2,000 acres in size. The native vegetation is mainly sparse <br /> shrubs and grasses with some pinyon and juniper. The higher elevation <br /> has scattered ponderosa pine and Douglas fir. Elevation is 4,700 to <br /> 9,200 ft. The average annual precipitation is ten inches at lower <br /> elevations and nineteen inches at higher elevations. The average annual <br /> air temperature is 430-490F, and the average frost-free period is 70-140 days. <br /> This unit is 50% Rock Outcrop and 45% Orthents.
