AT(05-1)ML-60.8-C-SR-11 <br /> • EXHIBIT I <br /> SOILS <br /> 37 - Pinon/Bowdish/Progresso Loams, 1% to 12% Slopes <br /> This map unit is on mesa tops and ridges. The native vegetation <br /> is mainly pinyon pine, Utah juniper, grasses and shrubs. Elevation is <br /> 6,800 to 7,400 ft. The average annual precipitation is 13 to 15 inches, <br /> the average annual air temperature is 45'-470F, and the average frost- <br /> free period is 90-120 days. <br /> This unit is 35% Pinon loam, 30% Bowdish loam, and 20% Progresso <br /> • loam. The Pinon and Bowdish soils are under pinyon-juniper, and the <br /> Progresso soil is under grasses and sagebrush. The components of this <br /> unit are so intricately intermingled that it was not practical to map <br /> them separately at the scale used. <br /> Included in this unit is about 10% rock outcrop, and 5% soils that <br /> are similar to this Pinon soil but have greater than 35% rock fragments <br /> in the control section. Also included are small areas of Monogram soils. <br /> The Pinon soil is shallow and well-drained. It formed in residuum <br /> derived dominantly from interbedded sandstone and shale. Typically, <br /> the surface layer is brown loam five inches thick. The underlying <br /> material is pinkish white loam to a depth of sixteen inches. Hard sand- <br /> stone is at a depth of sixteen inches. In some areas, the surface layer <br /> • is gravelly loam. <br /> -15- <br />
