.~ .
TO WHOM'IT MAY CONCERN:
Re
QUESTIONS:
-3-
Rockv Mountain Materials &
halt. Inc.
May 2, 2003
L. Has Rocky Mountain contacted the "Citizens for Clean Air & Water" notifying
them of their plans for this type of operation which would pollute the air
with dust?
2. Have they contacted the "Citizens for Clean Air & Water" notifying them of
the possibility of polluting the water?
3. Has Rocky Mountain contacted the Department of Health & Safety to report that
this operation would be free from any hazards and dangers to the residents of
.Canon City, Florence and Colorado Springs by their transporting this gravel.
This could-create much heavy traffic going back and forth.
4. Have they checked into the matter as to what pollutions and/or toxins this
type of operation would release; and would they violate the Federal.Clean
Air Act?
5. If the permit is granted and, after the land has been damaged by this type of
mining operation fora "Life of the Mine" period, ha s. Rocky Mountain made
plans to rehabilitate the land so that it can be useful after the mining
operation ceases - maybe 50 years or more later - or, will they just leave it
as it is and forget about it?
LAST: I'm not .sure what you:°mean by "would That is the question I asked you.
we still have access to our property
or would they cut us off?" ,
The applicant does not show that the pro- We are aware that none of our land will be mined;
posed affected land area includes-any of however, we are affected as the operation abuts
your property, so none will be mined or our property and we will be affected by the
affected. dust pollution, noise, heavy traffic, etc.
Whatever roads exist in the area will
remain after mining ceases.
If you have any questions whatsoever,
please call me.
It is possible that roads may be changed to
benefit the mining protect if the permit is
granted; and, after mining ceases, as
previously stated, will Rocky Mountain re=
habilitate the .land so it will be in the same
condition it was before they started their
mining operation?
I did not think. it was necessary to call you;
instead, I have answered your statements as
they appeared in your letter.
Respectfully submitted,
«~
.June A.
