iii I~ii~~iiiiiu~~i
999
-~
BASIN
RESOURCES, ~~~.
a subsidiary of ENTECH, Inc.
Mr. Joseph Dudash
Office of Mined Land Reclamation
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: New Elk Mine Permit No. C-81-012
NOV C-93-124
Dear Mr. Dudash:
14300 Highway 12
Weston, Colorado 81091
(719)668-2761
FAX (719) 868-2275
October 14, 1993
~Fr~=~VF~
pCT 19 19g~
~i,.m ~`.., ~.~
Please extend the abatement deadline for the following
violation C-93-124 to October 30, 1993. The extension is needed to
complete the installation of culvert C-5. The culvert is currently
replaced midway to the river. The problem we have encountered is
obtaining a suitable gap in the train schedule to complete the
installation under the tracks. The train schedule has been revised
numerous times to allow for the completion of the culvert
installation. Although the schedule allows, the actual arrival of
the trains is continually being revised by the railroad eliminating
the planned gaps.
Another problem that has occurred is the loss of my
construction contractor. Due to vandalism to his equipment, he has
decided not to work at our mine site any longer. He has pulled his
equipment from the mine area. We are currently searching for a
replacement contractor. As yet, all contractors located are
currently involved in other work. In perhaps a week, some may
become available. We are continuing to look for someone to begin
as soon as possible.
The two week extension is requested so as to arrange for a new
contractor and revise the train scheduling to allow for completion
of the project.
If you have any questions, Please call at (719) 868-2761 ext.
144.
Sincer
alp ez
Environmental Engineer
