Lung <br /> <br />Grand Junction, CO 81505 Dlv~sron Dueaor <br />Re: Coal Ridge No. l Mine (Permit No. C-1984-065) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 18 (TR-18) <br />Runoff Demonstration <br />Dear West Regional Wildlife Manager: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Tide 34, Article 33, Section 1 I6, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on April 4, 200], an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Coal Ridge No. 1 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was <br />submitted by NCIG Financial, Inc. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations <br />initiate from this date of filing. <br />This proposed technical revision (revision) includes a demonstration that untreated drainage from reclaimed areas <br />contributes suspended solids off site less than or equal to premining levels. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 7 miles west of Glenwood Springs, <br />Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />T6S, R91 W; Portions of Sections 1 and 12 <br />T6S, R90W; Portions of Sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, IS and l6 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Storm King Mountain <br />and New Castle. <br />The proposed technical revision would not incorporate additional lands into the permit area or otherwise alter <br />previously approved perrnit conditions or mitigation measures. However, we are requesting your agency's <br />evaluation of the proposal. Your comments and concerns relating to the adequacy of fish and wildlife resources <br />information, the fish and wildlife plan, and the reclamation plan as it relates to fish and wildlife considerations, <br />including potential impacts [o threatened or endangered species, are requested. If wildlife habitat is the proposed <br />postmining land use, we request your evaluation of proposed woody plant stocking levels, planting arrangements, <br />and methods for mitigation of potential adverse impacts. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been deemed complete. <br />At the time of publication of this notice, the applicant is additionally required to place a copy of this application a[ <br />the Ga~eld County Courthouse, 109 8th St Ste 200, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, and at the Division office. <br />
